Heating systems are made up of a heater core (acting like a small radiator behind the dash), a fan, and hoses distributing warmth from the engine to the rest of the vehicle. Air conditioning systems function similarly, delivering coolant to the fan to blow cool air throughout the cabin.
How to know if your vehicle’s Heating and A/C are having complications:
- A/C blows only slightly cooler than the air exterior.
- Air smells damp, stuffy, or moldy.
- Cabin does not heat up in cold weather.
- Defroster takes longer than typical to function, blows in dirty air, or doesn’t work.
- Heating or A/C only works when actively driving or stops when your car is in park.
- Heater blows cold air, or the A/C blows warm air.
- At the highest setting, your vents do not push out much air.
